BBC3 announces second series of “Lip Service”

The BBC has announced that there will indeed be a Season 2 for UK lesbian television series Lip Service. According to the press release, series creator Harriet Braun stated:

I am incredibly happy to be given this opportunity to take the characters forward and to allow all of our loyal viewers a chance to get to know them even better. I’ve got some great twists, turns and surprises up my sleeve for series two.

Via Facebook, BBC Three announced today:

Something for your Christmas stocking: Lip Service series 2 is go! Thank you for all your messages of support. Here’s to a very happy New Year!

The series has enjoyed unrelenting fan support online and had an average audience of over half a million across all six episodes.

The show’s cast includes Ruta Gedmintas, Fiona Button, and out actress Heather Peace. One of the stars, Laura Fraser, has already joined the cast of the new Showtime series Homeland, starring Claire Danes. No word yet on how that might impact her participation in S2 of Lip Service

The announcement is so new that none of the stars seem to have taken to their Twitter accounts yet to make any announcements, but we’ll keep you posted on their comments and any news pertaining to casting or production dates.

What “twists, turns and surprises” are you hoping Harriet Braun and company will deliver in the next season of Lip Service? (Thanks to AE reader MyHeartToBeTrue for the tip!)
