More like Nip/Yuck

Joely Richardson is planning to return to Nip/Tuck for its fifth season.

First, who decided it would be a good idea to prolong the suffering of this slowly dying show? It hasn’t really been worth the effort since season two. As the review says,

“What once used to be a show about self-worth and society’s perception of beauty as portrayed by plastic-surgery patients has become about the abject humiliation of women and rampant storylines. [Season three] alienated many fans, who found its love of excess ludicrous and at times, unforgivable.”

We need a new word for shows that go too far in the way that Nip/Tuck and Dirt do. Some sort of combo of nausea and drama. Drausea? Nausadrama? Hmm, this isn’t working.

Oh, wait: Drama + gross = dross. Isn’t the English language wonderful when it gives you exactly what you need?

Anyway, Joely Richardson is not dross. She’s brilliant, much like her mother, Vanessa Redgrave. Talk about good genes.
