Gabourey Sidibe gets the last laugh on “Saturday Night Live”

Hey, Howard Stern, who is laughing now? Gabourey Sidibe has landed a gig hosting Saturday Night Live. After the schlock jock predicted that the Academy Award-nominated actress would never work in Hollywood again because of her weight, she keeps proving that she who laughs last, laughs best.

According to E!, the deal has just been made for the 26-year-old rising star to host the 35-year-old late-night comedy institution. No word yet on when Gabby would host, but the job puts her in some fine company this season. Already Tina Fey and Betty White have been tapped for the honors.

Of course, this isn’t the only thing the Precious star has lined up. She has already wrapped work on her next feature film, Yelling at the Sky with Zoe Kravitz. And she has booked a recurring role on Laura Linney’s new Showtime series, The Big C. A promo featuring Gabby has been released.

Now that certainly doesn’t look like never working again. In fact, it looks terrific. SNL should be an equally great showcase for Gabby’s personality and sense of humor. Anyone who has seen her interviews knows she’s a funny gal. So I can’t wait for her to go live, from New York. How about you?
