“Glee” goes on tour for their summer vacation

As if our plans for summer tour season weren’t already packed with seeing Lilith in as many cities as we can manage, Ryan Murphy and the other masterminds behind America’s favorite musical show,Glee, announced a four-city live tour starting this May. Yes, my fellow Gleeks, our favorite rag-tag group from McKinley High’s New Directions will heat up the summer with a “thank you” to all of its loyal, non-Yearbook-picture defacing fans.

“The response of the fans to our little show has been so immediate and so gratifying, we wanted to get out and thank them live and in person,” Murphy said. Well, Ryan, if you really wanted to thank us in person, you’d deliver Santana and Brittany straight to our doorsteps, complete with Cheerios uniforms, but I guess we’ll take a live tour instead.

There’s only one, huge problem: Where on earth is Jane Lynch? Though the full roster from New Directions will embark on the tour, Sue Sylvester, along with Matthew Morrison (aka Mr. Schuester) will not be coming along. It’s hard to imagine a Gleeked out summer tour without Sue insulting Schue’s manhood or plotting against the Glee dorks. Nonetheless, let’s hope there is plenty of mattress-jumping, choreographed “Single Ladies” dancing, and Brittana sexual tension to make up for the glaring lack of gayness caused by Coach Sylvester’s absence.

So far, dates have been announced for Phoenix, Los Angeles, Chicago and New York City, starting May 18. Slated to be included in the official summer set list are group numbers “Don’t Stop Believin’,” “Somebody to Love,” and “Jump,” and featured solo performances of “Don’t Rain on My Parade” and “Sweet Caroline.” My votes are as follows: “I Kissed a Girl” starring Brittana (sorry, Tina), Kurt on a Beyonce medley with Tina and Brittany as back-up dancers, a reprisal of Puckerberry on “What a Girl Wants” (pre-awkward make-out), Lea Michele on Heart’s “Alone,” and “True Colors” complete with rainbow flags and drag. (What? I’m gay.)

Though American Idol is known for its popular summer tours, something tells me that the Gleeks will easily trample the AI fans at the box office, and rip each other’s hair out for tickets to any or all of the above shows. Pre-sale tickets are available March 5th for American Express cardholders and the box office opens on March 13.

Will you be lining up for tickets to what promises to be a cheesy yet undeniably awesome?
