Sharon Stone gets collared by “Law & Order: SVU”

Guilty criminals and innocent scenery beware, Sharon Stone is coming to Law & Order: SVU. The Oscar-nominated actress and professional scenery chewer will appear in a four-part arc as an ex-cop turned prosecutor beginning in April.

Sharon’s casting continues the show’s long line of high profile guest stars. Over its 11 season SVU has had everyone from Marlee Matlin to Mary Stuart Masterson, Angela Lansbury, Marcia Gay Harden, Cynthia Nixon, Hilary Duff and many more made very special appearances alongside that famous “chung-chung” sound. Sharon’s character will presumably go toe-to-toe with detectives Benson and Stabler.

Series producer Dick Wolf told Entertainment Weekly, “It is obviously a thrill and a delight to have a star of Sharon’s wattage and importance joining SVU.” Well, we certainly know Sharon can handle an interrogation scene from the other side of the table, so to speak. Time will tell if her, shall we say, cross-examinations as a prosecutor prove equally infamous.

It was also announced that former The O.C. star Mischa Barton would guest star March 3 on SVU as — wait for it — a hooker. Oh, Mischa. Her character Gladys will have some sort of secret that will cause Benson problems. Am I the only one who really misses the Mischa who made out innocently with Evan Rachel Wood on Once and Again?

Now, I won’t lie, the idea of Sharon Stone and Mariska Hargitay together is undeniably yummy. That’s a whole lot of alpha female energy on one screen. So, what do you think? Brilliant or bonkers casting? And please don’t let that ice pick Sharon is holding behind her back influence your answer in any way.
