Walk on, walk on and you’ll never walk alone

You watch every episode, you catch yourself singing along to that wretched theme song and pleading out loud with the more irritating characters well, now’s your chance to be a part of it all.

This week you can bid on eBay for a walk-on role on The L Word. The highest bidder gets to appear in an upcoming episode and can even bring along one friend (perhaps a way to finally woo that cute girl with the psycho-crush on Alice, hmm?).

And according to Showtime, the winner also gets “VIP backstage treatment,” a phrase I admit makes me feel like Butthead. Apparently what that actually entails is meeting the actors who are on set that day (pray that it not be a Jenny scene!), having lunch with the crew (I’m picturing some dorky boom operator guy with a lesbian fixation, but maybe you’d get to raid the craft services table with some hot, young production assistant), and a guided tour of the Vancouver set (airfare presumably not included). They also throw in an L Word DVD package from Wolfe Video.

You really have to pony up for it, though. When I last checked the highest bid was $5,600. But the proceeds — all of ’em — go to Queer Lounge, which is a nonprofit that provides a swanky homo presence at major film festivals and works to build “mainstream” audiences for queer film. The auction closes Jan. 8 at 10:30 p.m. (PST).
