More Christmas specials than you can shake a humbug at

Thanksgiving’s over, so it’s time for Christmas specials on TV. I can’t say I’m a fan of the general idea; I like failing to observe holidays entirely. But I’m happy to see that my childhood favorite is back: Santa Claus Is Comin’ to Town, featuring Burgermeister Meisterburger. (December 5 on ABC.) And when I say “childhood favorite,” I mean “childhood trauma”: my sister once convinced me I was adopted and my last name was really Burgermeister-meisterburger.

But I do dig The Year Without a Santa Claus (Heat Miser and Snow Miser rock).

And there are several lesbian-ish films in the offing this year, including The Santa Clause 2 (appalling, but who doesn’t love Elizabeth Mitchell?), December 17 on ABC; On the Second Day of Christmas (what, oh what, has become of Mary Stuart Masterson‘s career?!), December 5 on Lifetime; and One Christmas (Katherine Hepburn in one of her least memorable roles), December 17 on Hallmark.

That’s right, I just typed “Hallmark.” That’s way more unbelievable than the whole Kris Kringle thing.
