Lucy Lawless + Battlestar Galactica = Lesbian Subtext

Those of you who caught Friday night’s episode of my favorite TV show, Battlestar Galactica, may have noticed a sexy little scene involving the super-hot Cylon babes, D’anna Biers (played with slightly psychotic gusto by Lucy Lawless) and Number Six (Tricia Helfer). First, we see D’anna looking a bit pensive while sitting on a bed. Behind her is … (wait for it) Number Six lying asleep alongside her insane genius/evil mastermind human lover, Gaius Baltar (James Callis).

Lucy Lawless gets sutbtexty again

As the camera pulls back, we see that (gasp!) all THREE of them are nekkid!

More BSG subtext

While I am not the biggest fan of Baltar (traitorous bastard!), and a threesome isn’t necessarily my preferred method of introducing lesbian subtext to a television show, I’m not complaining. After seeing the previous episode, “A Measure of Salvation,” in which D’anna and Number Six gazed at one another longingly while contemplating the torture of Baltar, I was pretty sure that something was coming. It’s not likely (or confirmed) that anything more will come of this little triangle, but I am pretty pleased that it occurred. Go BSG! Welcome to the wonderful world of lesbian subtext. Fanvidders, rev up your youtube engines. (Screencaps from the fabulously comprehensive AUSXIP Lucy Lawless.)
