Last time on Marvel’s Runaways, PRIDE’s ultimate goal was finally uncovered: The group has been working on a renewable energy source, but disturbing its construction site could cause catastrophic events, capable of destroying the world. The kids discovered this information, and made it their mission to end this threat before it’s too late. But before they could do so, their parents arrived, leaving everyone ready for an epic battle.
One of the most long-awaited moments from last week’s episode was Karolina and Nico’s first kiss. Adding to excitement are the characters’ actresses — Virginia Gardner and Lyrica Okano — who have been wonderful captains of the “Deanoru” ship. I can’t wait to see where things go for them in the finale, as well as the team’s future adventures.
“Hostile” begins right where we left off, with the kids (along with Old Lace) and parents going head-to-head with their unique abilities. Soon after, Jonah arrives and shoots a light beam at the kids, making them fall to the ground. Karolina recognizes Jonah, and tells her friends to escape without her so she can fight him. Nico is extremely worried about her being alone, but she agrees to leave with the others. As the parents stand back in awe, Jonah and Karolina have a luminous showdown of their own, which releases an EMP that blows out everything in their vicinity.
Nico goes to look for Karolina, only to find the parents (minus Jonah and Karolina) going to look for their kids, and they decide to run away. The next day, the group is wandering the L.A. streets; they’re tired, hungry, and unsure of what they’re next move is. They relocate to a woodsy area, and debate over whether they should go back for Karolina. Nico is firm in her decision to rescue her, especially since she risked her life for her friends, and the rest eventually agree.
