Happy Pride Month, everybody! To kick off the best month of the year, Lauren Jauregui and Halsey released an LGBT love song and Jessica Origliasso treated Ruby Rose to a MAJOR romantic gesture. Plus, Taylor Schilling opened up about her sexuality once and for all. Lez get to it!

Lauren & Halsey Release Duet Strangers

A few weeks ago, Halsey announced she and Lauren planned to collaborate on a love song for the “LGBT community”. What’s especially great about this track is, Halsey made a commitment to include a fellow LGBT singer on the project, aka Jauregui:

“I was thinking to myself, if I want this song to be believable, it needs to be real. So I’m not going to put a girl on the song to sing who’s straight. I’m just not going to do it. So I reached out to Lauren and she came in and she cut the vocal and it sounds awesome.”
As for the same-sex pronouns in the song, the bisexual singer added:
“It’s unheard of. It’s very rare to see it from a female perspective. At no point in the song does it make a point to say that it’s a gay love song.”
On May 26, the duo finally dropped the highly-anticipated song… listen below!

Even if you’re not a fan of the ladies’ musical styles, you have to admit this song is pretty cool, especially when you consider the younger fan base the two have. Hopefully this song makes at least one girl feel less alone and underrepresented.

Musical pursuits aside, Lauren recently did a very generous thing. According to GoFundMe, Lauren donated $3,000 dollars to Bresha Meadows, a teenager who fatally shot her allegedly abusive father in July of last year. Following a plea deal which required Bresha to serve six months in a mental health facility prior to probation, her family set up a fundraising page to pay for the treatment.

The 15-year-old’s mom, Maria Latessa, explained:

“Her family has to pay for her treatment and needs your help. We want Bresha to receive the best treatment, she was treated at this facility in January, she has developed a rapport with the staff and would love to return there for treatment.”
Well, it looks like Latessa’s plea hit the right note in Jaruequi’s heart:

Although there has been some controversy around this crime, a lot of people have expressed support for Bresha. Apparently the teen’s dad physically and verbally abused the family for years, and Latessa even filed a civil domestic violence protection against her husband in 2011. Either way, it’s nice to see a celebrity making a tangible difference in someone’s life.

Jessica Gifts Ruby With The Most Romantic Gesture Ever

When you’re famous, the romantic gesture stakes are high. Luckily for Ms. Rose, her girlfriend is acing it in the romance department and she never seems to be short on gift ideas.

At a Veronicas concert in Australia on May 27, the singer got the ENTIRE audience to scream “I LOVE YOU RUBY!” on cue:

Naturally, Ruby was thrilled by the once in a lifetime moment. The lesbian gushed to fans:

Lucky, indeed! I can’t believe it has been seven months already. Who knows, maybe these two are in it for the long haul…

On another note, Rose made a joke about lesbian stereotypes that I just have to share:

Anna Paquin Slams The Daily Mail For Publishing Photos Of Her Kids

Photo: Instagram

Don’t mess with mama bear Paquin. On May 30, the bisexual actress took to Twitter to go HAM on the Daily Mail for publishing photos of her young twins, Charlie and Poppy. For those not familiar with the publication, they generally blur out kids’ faces. In fact, it has become more of a common practice for outlets across the board. Unfortunately, the DM decided to share unblurred pics of the children for whatever reason that may be, error or not.

In response, Paquin had this to say:

Although it’s unfortunate to see a mom so upset, at least this situation presents an opportunity to discuss children and the legalities of the paparazzi. Hopefully the DM makes more of an effort to respect the privacy of Anna’s kids in the future.

Kristen Stewart Will Hang Out Of A Moving Car For Stella Maxwell

These two…

As you may know, Kristen is currently filming a movie in New Orleans. As you also may know, the lesbian’s girlfriend Stella Maxwell often jets down to Nola for visits. It turns out the pair are in the extra phase of their relationship, a sentiment evidenced by this photo of Stewart hanging out of a moving SUV as she snaps a pic of a barely clad Maxwell (who also happens to be hanging out of a window).

See it for yourself:

Although I’m not exactly sure this is what “lesbian dreams are made of”, this pic does have the potential to be a great meme. I also enjoyed Spencer Pratt’s reaction to it:

You know it’s 2017 when a Hills alum lends his approval to Kristen’s same-sex relationship.

Sense8 Gets Cancelled

Photo: Netflix

My condolences, Sense8 fans. On Thursday, Netflix announced the show will end its run after two seasons. When you consider a show like The Big Bang Theory is still on the air after TEN soul crushing seasons, the news is pretty hard to swallow. Is there any justice in the world?

Cindy Holland, Netflix’s vp of original content, said in a statement:

“After 23 episodes, 16 cities and 13 countries, the story of the Sense8 cluster is coming to an end. It is everything we and the fans dreamed it would be: bold, emotional, stunning, kickass and outright unforgettable. Never has there been a more truly global show with an equally diverse and international cast and crew, which is only mirrored by the connected community of deeply passionate fans all around the world. We thank Lana, Lilly, Joe and Grant [Hill] for their vision and the entire cast and crew for their craftsmanship and commitment.”
Following the announcement, Sense8‘s Instagram account posted an emotional tribute to the show:

Taylor Schilling Opens Up About Her Sexuality

Photo: Instagram

Ever since Taylor Schilling was linked to Carrie Brownstein once upon a time, I’ve been curious about the Orange Is The New Black star’s personal life. Despite Schilling’s alleged relationship Brownstein and her lady lovin’ role on OITNB, the star has never really commented on her sexuality.

In a conversation with the Evening Standard, Taylor finally spoke out on what’s going on… sorta. The actress explained:

“… I’ve had very serious relationships with lots of people, and I’m a very expansive human. There’s no part of me that can be put under a label. I really don’t fit into a box – that’s too reductive.”
As for Schilling’s relationship status, she’s 100% single:
“I’m working all the time – I don’t really have anything else going on. But I’ve had wonderful relationships. I’ve had a lot of love, and I don’t have any qualms about where it comes from.”
Considering Taylor is adverse to “labels”, I won’t give her one… but her interview speaks for itself. The star has had and most like will continue to have relationships with men AND women. This commentary is the most we’ve heard from Schilling on her sexuality ever since she told People magazine in June of 2015 that she had “nothing to hide”. It will be interesting to see if Tay gets more candid as time goes on…

Chinese Lesbian Dating App Disappears Under Suspicious Circumstances

Ick, I hope this turns out to be a technological issue opposed to an intentional thing.

As AE’s friends in China are already aware of, lesbian dating app Rela is no longer available in Android or Apple app stores. Even worse, the app’s website has also been removed. Despite Rela telling its users that an “important adjustment in service” was to blame for the outage, some think government censorship is the real culprit. Suspicions stem from Rela’s participation in Shanghai’s May 20 “marriage market”, a weekly event in which parents try to find partners for their unwed children. Rela was booted from the event after security officers claimed the app hadn’t registered for the event. Not to mention China banned the depiction of same-sex couples on television just last year…

No matter what the reason is, let’s hope the app is up and running soon. Although this issue isn’t too severe when you consider the ongoing atrocities in Chechnya and elsewhere, it’s still damaging for Rela’s five million users. It’s sending a message that their sexual orientation is wrong and worthy of censorship, which is disturbing on so many levels. Bring back Rela!

Watch Cara Delevingne Dive Into A Pile Of Inflatable Boobs

Photo: Instagram

How could I not pay homage to Cara diving head first into a pile of inflatable boobs? On Wednesday, the lesbian and her pal Kendall Jenner visited the Museum of Sex in New York City — Page Six referred to the outing as a “sex adventure” because they’re Page Six.

At the museum, Jenner spent a lot of time documenting Delevingne enjoying what can only be described as a boob bouncy castle. Although the Museum of Sex’s site describes the boobtastic installation as a means to “increase awareness of the body and to create the thrilling possibility of physical contact between strangers”, it appears Cara was more concerned with having fun than anything else: The two also indulged in boob jello shots: Nice Monty Python reference, Cara.

“This Just Out with Liz Feldman” Is Back With New Episodes!

What a TREAT! I’m so excited Liz is back with new episodes, especially since I have a particular fondness for the host. I distinctly remember religiously watching the lesbian’s show when I first came out in 2010. It’s safe to say I have a fondness for YouTube series.

As for the details of the revival, Feldman spoke to AE’s Editor-In-Chief Memoree Joelle about bringing This Just Out back, revealing:

“I love doing This Just Out and I try to bring it back whenever I can. It’s a passion project for me and I’m grateful that our audience has stuck with us for so long. Those are some patient lesbians! Some of my favorite past guests have been Kate Moennig, Tegan & Sara and Clea Duvall. This season I interview some of my favorite past guests plus some awesome movers and shakers in the LGBTQ community.”

Enjoy, you guys!

On that fabulous note, I’m out! I hope you guys enjoy the first weekend of Pride Month.
