Good morning! I hope you had a fantastic weekend.
Starbucks, Coke and Nescafe won awards for their lesbian-inclusive campaigns in the UK.
All-black lesbian Greek organization Omicron Psi Omega of Tallahassee, Florida celebrates “Bruh-therhood” and is borrowing some traditions from fraternities rather than sororities.
Lesbians and trans women of Tunisia held a feminist art festival called Chouftouhonna despite the country’s pervasive homophobia and transphobia.
And in Namibia, The Women’s Leadership Centre (WLC) and Franco-Namibian Cultural Centre (FNCC) are hosting an exhibit called Creating Ourselves in Our Own Image, “providing voice and visibility to the lives of young lesbians from across Namibia, who articulate their resilience and resistance to stigma and discrimination through creative forms of expression.”
Janet King has been renewed for a third season!
“I think it’s great. Disney’s just gotta contend with that. I’ll let them figure that out.”
An optimist and also a realist! Might I suggest Tracie Thoms?
GLSEN is honoring Ilene Chaiken tonight at their NYC GLSEN Respect Awards.
Loveline tries to answer how to deal with LBD.
Honolulu has been ordered to pay Courtney Wilson and Taylor Guerrero $80,000 after they were arrested for kissing in a grocery store. The two are no longer together.
Gillian Anderson as Jane Bond? WE ARE SO IN.
So it sounds like that really short Callie goodbye on Grey’s Anatomy was not meant to be Sara Ramirez‘s exit–at least not as Shonda Rhimes had planned.
“I found out maybe three days before you guys found out. … This one was interesting. It was different because it wasn’t a big, planned thing. I had a different plan going and when Sara came and said, ‘I really need to take this break,’ I was sort of lucky that we had shot the end of the season with her going to New York. I felt really good that we had shot that ending and that she said she wanted to take this break and we were able to give it to her because I love the woman and I want to do everything for her. It all worked out in that sense.”
Courtney Barnett performed on the SNL season finale over the weekend, and she killed it.
Brooklyn-based queer barber Khane Kutzwell wants to open a shop for the LGBTQ community in New York.
Halsey talked about her milestone year on the Billboard Music Awards red carpet.
Also at the Billboard Awards, Demi Lovato performed “Cool for the Summer” while wearing a shirt in support of trans equality, and Kesha covered Bob Dylan.
Sophie Turner would love for Sansa to go Sapphic on Game of Thrones. It starts off great:
“In the GoT universe, I think she’s going to have to swing the other way – because the men thing isn’t working for her. Judging by Sansa’s relationship with Margaery … probably Margaery.”
“Or [Sansa could hook up with] Arya – because I’d like to see that happen. I’d love a love scene between Arya and Sansa.”
Arya and Sansa are sisters, which would definitely not stop this show as incest is already a thing with them. But that’s a no from us, thanks.
