“The 100” recap (3.16): There is no pain in the City of Light

Raven realizes that the code she saw for Clarke is doing something different than anyone else, and knows that Clarke wasn’t just chipped. She says it’s like Clarke is running her own program, that Alie can’t control her. However, Alie DOES have Alie 2.0 in her now, so she can update and become an UberAI, so Raven has to get to the killswitch like RIGHT NOW.

Alie’s Army starts closing in around Clarke, punching and kicking her, and just as things start looking bleak, like a murderous angel from the sky, Lexa kom Trikru comes flying in, swords swinging. Clarke lets out a surprised, “Lexa?” and Heda herself turns around, smiling a smile for the ages.

LEXAAAAAAA

Lexa slices and dices Alie’s Army to pieces, easily taking them all down for Clarke. Part of Clarke probably anticipated this moment, but neither of them can believe this is really happening.

I mean, *I* didn’t breathe the entire time Lexa was on my screen.

They touch each others faces, they hug, they hold each other tight. And as much as Lexa would love to show her around the City of Light, there’s still work to be done. “Our fight is not over.”

Always flipping the switch on Trig sayings, this one.

Lexa leads Clarke away, but Clarke can tell that something is wrong with her body. Clarke can hardly focus on that, though; she thought she’d never see Lexa again, and here she is, holding her, touching her. Lexa is less surprised. She knew her spirit would choose the next Commander wisely.

The sky starts to freak out, and Lexa says that means Alie knows Clarke is here. But they can’t go any further because Clarke starts seizing.

Desperate to keep her daughter alive, Abby cracks Ontari’s chest open and has Murphy pump her heart by hand. Abby sits near her daughter’s unconscious body, begging her to keep fighting.

Little does she know, she doesn’t have to fight alone.

Lexa holds Clarke as she passes out, and she begs Clarke to wake up, to fight through this. “We need you,” she says. And so Clarke does come back, and when she opens her eyes in the City of Light and sees Lexa holding her close, she kisses her. She can’t not.

But unfortunately, there’s no time to stand around and make out. Lexa tells her that the upload has begun and that the flame will offer her some protection (read: her), but they have to start making moves. Clarke realizes she’s wearing her father’s watch and it’s counting down; they have ten minutes.

It’s six more than Madonna had, so.

Clarke and Lexa see a girl on a bike with the symbol on her jacket, and they know where to go.
