Roan sneaks Clarke and Murphy out of Polis, saying Titus will support Ontari because he’s Flamekeeper and that’s his job. Roan tells Clarke that saving her now is his way of making them even, so they’re no longer allies. But Clarke isn’t going anywhere without the flame.
In Arkadian prison, Kane fingers his trikru brand, mourning the alliance that could have been. Pike comes to lead them away, but as soon as they pass Harper in the hallway, she radios to someone with the code name OKS. Monty and his mother are listening in and Mama Monty figures out that it’s Oktavia kom Skaikru that they’re talking to. She stops Pike and the prisoner escort, so they shove the prisoners in a bunk and try to find Oktavia.
Clarke and Murphy sneak back into Titus’s weird shrine room and Clarke stitches the flame. Titus comes in, sort of in a fugue state, and blames Clarke for Lexa’s death even though he is definitely the only one to blame. Clarke tries to appeal to his love for Lexa and says she wouldn’t want Ontari taking over. When Clarke asks why they can’t pick a non-Nightblood to be Commander, he says that the Flame would kill someone who wasn’t a natbleda.
But Clarke remembers that there’s one more Nightblood out there, she remembers the tattoo down Lexa’s back, and the 8th Nightblood that got away. Titus says she fled like a coward and Lexa wouldn’t let him hunt her down, but Clarke says she can’t be worse than Ontari.
Ontari storms in and Clarke hides. Titus says she can’t ascend to the throne covered in black blood so he tells Murphy to take her to bathe.
Once she’s gone, Titus admits that Clarke is right, even Luna would be better than Ontari. Clarke remembers Lincoln mentioning someone named Luna, so Titus gives her the Flame, carefully, ceremoniously. She promises to protect it with her life, and he gives her armor and calls her Flamekeeper.
