“The 100” recap (3.09): The Eternal Flame

We begin the episode with Clarke and Murphy still trapped in Lexa’s room. At the sound of the horn sound announcing the conclave, Clarke steps away from the window and is confronted with the sight of the bed, still covered in Lexa’s blood.

:'(

She is trapped in her own personal hell, so she starts banging on the door. Murphy shows some rare empathy and says he knows how much Lexa meant to Clarke and he’s sorry for her loss. But Clarke’s desperation to get out of the room is bigger than her pain. She needs Aden to win the conclave to ensure her people’s safety.

Titus comes back and throws robes at Clarke and Murphy; he made Lexa a vow to protect Clarke and it’s literally the least he can do. She asks why blood must have blood doesn’t apply to him, and he explains that he’s the only Flamekeeper. He gives them advice on how to escape, but Clarke’s not going anywhere without talking to Aden first.

“If you think I’ll take no for an answer, you haven’t learned anything.”

The Nightbloods are performing a purification ritual, pouring red sand over Lexa’s covered body. When Clarke pulls Aden aside, he asks if she wants a moment with Lexa, and Clarke’s brain nearly short circuits. But she doesn’t have time for that, she just wants to make sure Aden will still keep his promise to protect the skaikru if he becomes the next Commander. Aden says that Lexa made all of them promise her that they would, so no matter who the Spirit chooses, Clarke’s people will be safe. “We loved her,” Aden says. And Clarke nods; she did too.

But then the door is kicked in and the Ice Queen’s natblida, Ontari, swoops in to attack Clarke because she blames her for the Ice Queen’s death. Roan is king now, so he stops her before she can kill Clarke, but Ontari vows that when she’s Heda, skaikru will pay.

Why are villains always so attractive?

In Arkadia, Lincoln is trying to keep up the spirits of his fellow prisoners when Pike comes to remind everyone that they’re sentenced to death. At Lincoln’s request, only the three leaders will be executed, the rest of the trikru prisoners will be safe.

Harper and Miller are plotting in Miller’s room when Bellamy shows up with Monty. They’re suspicious and on edge but Bellamy tries to prove he’s trustworthy by cutting out a secret bug placed in Miller’s guard uniform. Bellamy and Monty want to help them free Kane, Sinclair and Lincoln, but Miller and Harper continue to just stare. Bellamy is frustrated and says to have Octavia meet him in an hour, and Monty is hurt that they don’t trust them. Because apparently Bellamy and Monty are even dumber than previously understood.

Really, bruh?
