“The 100” recap (3.07): May we meet again

Titus comes in to escort Clarke out of Polis, practically skipping at the joy of it, when Lexa says she invited Clarke to stay. Clarke leaves so they can talk, and Titus begs her to remember that love is weakness. He says to be the Commander is to be alone, and that her feelings will put them all in danger. He then has the balls to say, “Don’t make her pay for your mistakes like Kostia did.”

That’s when Lexa loses it. How dare he say her name. How dare he talk to her like she’s forgotten about what happened to Costia. Costia’s head was cut off and delivered to her bed, and yet she was still able to make peace with Ice Nation. She knows more strength than he could ever comprehend, and how DARE he imply that she is weak, that her feelings get in the way of her ability to lead. How DARE he.

How. dare. he.

You know what else is brave? That it took her this long to yell at him like this. That she respectfully shut him up every time he spoke out of turn until now. And that she now stood up to him. He says he didn’t mean to offend her, and she knows damn right he did. But either way, whether Clarke stays or goes isn’t up to either of them. It’s up to Clarke and Clarke alone.

Octavia goes out into the city and finds Indra, speaking in Trigedasleng, saying she’s here to honor Indra. Indra speaks back to her in Octavia’s language, saying there is no honor here. Octavia wants to know where the woman who taught her everything she knew went, where the warrior who helped her evolve from floorbaby to floorheda is, but Octavia doesn’t give up that easily. She says she’ll do whatever it takes to prove she’s trikru, even fight her own brother, and Indra launches at her. When little Octavia easily overpowers her, it’s clear that Indra’s injury is why she’s lost all faith in herself. Survivor’s guilt and physical weakness has her writing herself off.

Octavia says she can die a coward or die getting revenge; it’s up to her.

Titus, tail between his leg, goes back to his hole to find Murphy not in his chair anymore. They tussle, but of course, the skaiboy isn’t a match for the Commander’s protector. Murphy offers information in exchange for his life and tells him that Polis is actually Polaris, a station from the skai just like him and his friends. Titus is offended that Murphy would imply that any of the skaikru were similar to his deity; she was around at the time of the first nightbloods, they only fell from the sky a few months ago.

We need some clarification on all this, so we flash back again to Becca bleeding black all over her lab in Polaris. Her commander says they need to kill the AI so they can dock to the rest of the Ark or else they’re going to be eliminated. Becca packs a suitcase (that, if you look carefully, is in Titus’s lair) and says she can’t let the commander in because she needs to save everyone.

The weight of the world is not an easy burden.

Becca puts on her suit and launches from Polaris in a dropship, leaving the base to be exploded for not docking when they should have.
