“The 100” recap (3.06): Draw me like one of your skai girls

Octavia wakes up just outside the little village, and pretends to be unconscious while she listens in on the villagers’ plan to take her to the Commander. When Pike’s crew shows up and causes a distraction, she makes a break for it, shouting back to her brother that the village is a trap. Fire arrows fly through the air and light the pyres, and Octavia warns them that the smoke is poison.

Monty drags Monroe out of the cloak of billowing green, and Octavia hovers nearby to make sure her brother got out okay. Monroe chokes to death and Monty’s Mom blames Octavia, and says that they have traitors at their camp. Before Octavia can warn Kane that they’ve been made, she gets ripped off her horse and held at knifepoint. Not quite the clean getaway she was hoping for.

In Polis, the war drums sound, and Lexa enters, taking her place on the dais. She says that they’ve come here for an execution, and calls Wanheda forward. She hands her guard a knife to give the Commander of Death, but Clarke refuses the weapon. She says, “No,” firmly, decidedly. So it is clear that it’s not that she can’t kill this man, it’s that she won’t.

Clarke turns to Emerson and says that she doesn’t deserve the potential peace killing him would give (and lezbehonest, he doesn’t deserve the peace of death.)

Surprise!

Titus says that if Wanheda won’t kill this Mt. Weather Man, OG Heda will. Lexa turns to him and once again reminds him that he does not speak for her, or Clarke, or anyone but himself, and to kindly shof op.

HEDA KNOWS WHAT HEDA MEANS

Clarke says that blood must not have blood, and Lexa agrees. This is their new future, this is the beginning of a new day. Violence does not have to answer violence. Their children can grow up in a land that knows peace, without death lurking around every corner. This is her word, and her word is law.

And her face is magic.

Clarke and Lexa exchange small, supportive looks, and Lexa banishes Emerson. She points out to her people that it’s not like she’s saying that doing wrong won’t be punished; they can just stop killing people all the time. Being sent away with only the ghosts of those he’s wronged for company won’t exactly be a piece of cake.

Clarke looks Emerson right in the eye and says, “May you live forever.” And just like that, it is VERY clear that “Blood must not have blood” does not mean “Hugs and puppies for everyone.”

*sings* “Blame it on Mt. Weather Man.”
