“The 100” recap (3.4): Ai Nou Fir Raun (I Am Fearless)

The Sky People are holding a memorial at Arkadia, but it’s interrupted by guards announcing the arrival of 300 Grounders. Abby and Kane insist they’re here to protect the camp, but Pike thinks they can defend themselves. Everyone turns against Lincoln and THROW THINGS AT HIS PERFECTLY SCULPTED BODY. Something super sharp hits his beautiful head and he stumbles outside, speaking Grounder to himself to pep himself up.

He eventually goes to the med tent, where Abby sews him up, and Octavia comes to visit him. She has had quite enough of this Farm Station hullaballoo.

“But I wanna kick people off towers! Pleeeaaase!”

Octavia tells Lincoln that she thinks Lexa will take them back if they ask, and I’m screaming YAAAS DO IT, GO, SAVE YOURSELVES MY PRECIOUS ONES, but Lincoln says he has to stay. He’s a support beam in the currently fragile bridge of truce between the Grounders and the Skaikru.

Lincoln kisses Octavia on her perfect little braided head and promises us we’ll get through this.

Meanwhile, Clarke goes to visit the Ice Queen. (Number Three, have your seconds meet face to face.) Clarke wants to know what would happen if she changes her vote so that the Heda No Mo was unanimous. Nia promises that Skaikru would be protected if she was Commander because her beef is with Lexa. Also, she’d stop gunning for Wanheda’s head. Clarke says, in Trigedasleng, “We bind ourselves in blood,” and runs her dagger across her hand, impressing the Queen.

“Welp, I’m a little turned on, not gonna lie.”

Nia grabs the knife after Clarke, but a girl who had been attending the queen and observing Clarke with a watchful eye stops her before she slices her own palm. The girl attacks Clarke and sniffs her sleeve where she had wiped the blade, and smells that there is poison there. So the Queen wipes off the knife and opens her girl’s hand. The girl, Ontari, bleeds on Clarke’s face, the liquid thick and black. The Queen tells Clarke to go back to Lexa with a message: She has her own Nightblood.

Clarke goes back to Lexa posthaste and is like, “Hi yeah okay this is not normal wtf is happening.” Lexa explains that whenever a child is born with Nightblood, they’re usually brought to Polis to be trained. But obviously, Nia kept one for herself, meaning she could be in control of the next Commander anyway, even without the unanimous vote. Clarke is still really confused as to why some people bleed black, and I am too. Extra concerned about the way it stays on Clarke’s face because it makes me wonder if that’s why Lexa’s warpaint always looks so much darker than everyone else’s….

Anyway, when Titus begs Lexa again to pick a champion, Lexa demands he get out of her sight. Clarke is starting to freak out because she doesn’t know what to do. She can’t sit idly by and let this happen. Lexa understands that it’s in Clarke’s nature to help, but this isn’t something that can be fixed. Clarke is hell-bent now, near mad with determination. She will not do nothing while Lexa dies.

Quite a change from shrugging off Roan’s first plan to kill her.

The declaration makes Lexa swallow hard, but she manages to get out a goodbye. But just a goodbye for now, not a goodbye forever.

Goodbye, love. Goodbye, love. Goodbye, love, goodbye.
