Morning Brew – Jena Malone and Riley Keough are BFFS who fall for each other in Sundance pick “Lovesong”

Good morning!

Is a lesbian too X-rated for children to read about? Now I really want to read A Song For Ella Grey.

Vanessa Carlton was a guest on HuffPost Live yesterday and our own Valerie Anne asked a question (around the 20:40 mark) about her coming out as bisexual and how it’s affected her career.

Look how adorable Tig Notaro and Stephanie Allynne were on their wedding day.

Peaches‘ new video for “Rub” is the queerest thing you’ll see today. Super NSFW!

Rooney Mara is kind of tired of being asked about chemistry.

The Sundance line-up is here with some fun films of interest. Tallulah, starring Ellen Page from Orange is the New Black writer Sian Heder will make its premiere in the U.S. Dramatic Competition as will Clea DuVall’s directorial debut, The Intervention. Described as “A weekend getaway for four couples takes a sharp turn when one of the couples discovers the entire trip was orchestrated to host an intervention on their marriage,” the cast includes Melanie Lynskey, Cobie Smulders, Alia Shawkat, Natasha Lyonne and Clea herself. Also of interest: Suited, the Lena Dunham-produced documentary about Bindle & Keep, the tailoring company that caters to gender-nonconforming clients.

But another film that we are super excited about is Lovesong from Jack & Diane screenwriters/directors So Yong Kim and Bradley Rust Gray. Jena Malone and Riley Keough star as best friends who “see their deep BFFship develop into a surprising romance — despite the fact that Mindy is about to get married.” The official description:

Neglected by her husband, Sarah embarks on an impromptu road trip with her young daughter and her best friend, Mindy. Along the way, the dynamic between the two friends intensifies before circumstances force them apart. Years later, Sarah attempts to rebuild their intimate connection in the days before Mindy’s wedding.
