Manhattan, WGN’s period drama about the people behind the Manhattan Project, really captured our attention during its first season. The romance between married mother Abby (played by the sensational Rachel Brosnahan) and Elodie (Carole Weyers, perfect in this role) was a real surprise and brought a lot of heart and passion to the intense drama. When we last say Elodie, she and her husband had been framed and taken out of the Army camp by force. Abby, who ultimately betrayed her lover to protect her family, was devastated and racked with guilt. In the Season 1 finale, Abby’s own husband Charlie is accused of treason, and Abby is also arrested to ascertain her role in the whole thing.
We finally get a sneak peek into next season’s drama, as all the major players are forced to defend themselves and truly face what’s happening in that dusty New Mexico desert. Actress Mamie Gummer is joining the cast in Season 2. We don’t know much about her character yet, but here’s hoping she and Abby have some meaningful scenes together.
