Morning Brew – Tig Notaro interviews Andrea Gibson

Good morning! I hope you had a great weekend.

If you’re ever headed to NYC, you can now take a gay city tour. I can’t speak to its lesbian content, but I have made my own map of lez Greenwich Village once. (It’s not hard!)

Glory Johnson posted a message for fans on her Instagram this weekend.

Dianna Agron spoke with the Wall Street Journal about her role in Bare. When asked about if the film is about sexuality:

“I don’t think so. It’s more about the human experience and finding love for somebody – it’s not gender specific, or Sarah finding herself as a lesbian. I was in a nail salon the other day and there were these girls holding hands, arm around the other girls, joking, laughing. Just girlfriends. But there’s some cultures and places where that’s not appropriate. It just depends on what you grow up with.”

Northern Ireland health minister Jim Wells has resigned after making some homophobic comments, likening gay people to child abusers.

Last Friday’s Dr. Phil was about a Mormon and lesbian-identified woman who catfished seven women because she was uncomfortable with her sexuality and how it fit into her religion.

A Russian lesbian who taught music to autistic children was fired because she posted a photo of herself kissing another woman on Facebook

Oregon-based bakers Sweet Cakes by Melissa have been ordered to pay $135,000 to a lesbian couple who were discriminated against when owners Melissa and Aaron Klein refused to bake them a cake based on their sexual orientation.

Kelly Brook is not a lesbian. (In case you thought she was?)

Here Comes Honey Boo Boo stars Mama June and her daughter, Pumpkin, are both bisexual.

Interview magazine had Tig Notaro interview out poet/performer Andrea Gibson.

An excerpt:

NOTARO: Do you identify as gay? How do you identify yourself as a person?

GIBSON: Queer! I identify as queer and I identify as gender queer.

NOTARO: What is that?

GIBSON: That just means that I don’t necessarily identify within a gender binary. I’ve never in my life really felt like a woman and I’ve certainly never felt like a man. I look at gender on a spectrum and I feel somewhere on that spectrum that’s not landing on either side of that.

Comic Cameron Esposito writes about her first kiss with a woman at The A.V. Club.

Amber and Adelia have a really sweet musical proposal video. Congrats gals!
