Morning Brew – Rosie O’Donnell announces split with wife, leaves “The View”

Good morning!

In some sad news, Rosie O’Donnell has announced she’s separating from wife Michelle Rounds, and she’s also leaving The View. Rosie’ s publicist gave the following statement:

“This has been a very stressful situation. She is putting her personal health and family first. ABC has been wonderfully understanding and supportive of her personal decision to leave The View. Next week will be her last.”

Such a bummer, all around. I enjoyed having her back on TV every day.

In some happier news, Lea DeLaria and partner Chelsea Fairless announced their engagement on Facebook:

Despite their concerns about the patriarchal confines of marriage, actor / singer Lea DeLaria & editrix Chelsea Fairless of Brooklyn, New York are pleased to announce their engagement. No date has been set for the impending nuptials but it’s safe to say that it will be the event of the season, or a total shit show.

More good news? OK! Freeheld has been picked up by Lionsgate. From The Hollywood Reporter:

In a contest that went overnight and into dawn in the German capital, the company beat out numerous other bidders, including Focus Features, Sony Pictures Classics, and Netflix, among others. The deal for North American rights was in the high seven figures, according to sources. Even more noteworthy is that the bidding war erupted after execs saw only a 12-minute sizzle reel, and not a completed film, since Freeheld is still in post.

Oh god, I can’t wait.
