Morning Brew – Kate McKinnon, Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones and Kristen Wiig are the new Ghostbusters

Good morning!

First thing’s first: There is a new Ghostbusters movie being made and the Kate McKinnon, Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig and Leslie Jones have been hired for the gig! Paul Feig (who was behind Bridesmaids and The Heat) is directing, and shooting begins this summer in NYC with an estimated premiere date of July 22, 2016. Begin the countdown to awesome! (And if one of them is gay, I’ll freak the fuck out.)

OK, moving on! Yesterday we showed you a clip from this Friday’s episode of Say Yes to the Dress: Atlanta with Brittney Griner and Glory Johnson. We now have a quote from Brittney about the experience:

“Being on the show was super exciting! I was nervous, but I knew at the end of the day we would have a dress. It also let me know how real things are, when I saw Glory in her dress I just couldn’t keep the tears back!”

Super sweet. There may be no crying in baseball, but it’s A-OK in the WNBA.

Don’t miss @brittneygriner @jayroy23 @judyj411 Grace Johnson & I, this Friday on “Say Yes To The Dress: Atlanta” Jan. 30th @ 10pm on TLC

Bi WWE Diva Rosa went in for a kiss with fellow diva Paige on Total Divas this week, and Rosa got rejected. 🙁 On After Total Divas, Rosa stopped by to talk about what happened. It starts around 7:54 below, and Rosa says she still thinks Paige wanted to kiss her and was attracted to her.

Emily has a “new romance” in this teaser for next week’s Pretty Little Liars. Mhm!

New Yorkers, go see Home in Her Heart if you get the chance. Margaret Morrison’s play (set in 1930s London) follows “a young black female pianist and a middle-aged Jewish male impersonator, both of whom are American expats [who] struggle to carry on an intense romance despite the forces of social repression arrayed against them – not the least of which are the genocidal ambitions of the Third Reich.” So bummed it closes the week before I make my trip out there!

Guardian Ship is a lesbian sci-fi movie! So you might want to help this get made.

Moving into another genre, horror! Dreams from the Witch House: Female Voices of Lovecraftian Horror is an anthology that needs help getting made, too.

Mel Shimkovitz and Clea DuVall star in the short film, Ma/ddy, which now has an official trailer and website.
