“Face Off” Mini-Cap (7.6): We’re off to see the Wonderland

A Wizard of Oz meets Alice in Wonderland challenge? It’s like Face Off has died and gone over the rainbow into big gay heaven. I was so incredibly, incredibly, incredibly excited for this challenge. Finally, a chance for the contestants to go big. Get crazy. Take us down a twister of a rabbit hole. And, instead, only two of the teams embraced the challenge and everyone else was the equivalent of the wah-wah sound. You guys, it’s Oz and Wonderland. Adele Dazeem is so disappointed in you. SO DISSAPOINTED.

But, I’m not disappointed in this fantastically gay selfie. Atta girl, Stella. THE CHALLENGE: Well, if it wasn’t already abundantly clear, this week the challenge was to reimagine a character from the Wizard of Oz as though they’ve fallen down the rabbit hole into Alice’s Wonderland.

THE TWIST: No twist, but there was a twister that started the whole thing. But seriously, I grew up in the Midwest, those things are terrifying.

THE GOOD: As aforementioned, the only two teams to make convincing hybrids. Keaghlan & Rachael’s Tin Man and Stella & Dina’s Winged Monkey. But you know we’re gonna talk about Stella later, so how about that Tin Man. Nice concept, beautiful symmetry. Well done.

THE BAD: Damn, whimsy is not this group’s forte. I was particularly flummoxed by Cig and Damien’s patchwork nightmare they called the Scarecrow. I got the concept, but the execution was like your grandma’s scrap drawer threw up on a mannequin.

THE RANDOM: Almost as disappointing was Drew and George’s utterly unoriginal Wicked Witch. This is Oz meets Wonderland. Bring it, fellas. Paint her red. Make her hat into a crown. Anything. Something.

THE WTF WERE THEY THINKING: Sweet merciful Zeus, can we talk about Jason and Sasha’s Cowardly Teen Wolf? How could they not have gotten the lion and immediately thought Cheshire Cat? It’s almost too perfect. But instead, they went emo tabby cat. Sasha, girl, time to start speaking up for yourself.

THE GAY: After an off week, Stella came roaring back again. The Winged Monkey court jester was an inspired choice. The ears into the jester cap was also brilliant. A well deserved win for the team and further proof that we’re rooting for the right gal.

Good job, tweetbians. Stella won the Tweet off Fan Favorite again last month. Keep it up, she is ahead with three wins so far. I can almost taste the beer.
