“Glee” will finally concentrate on just New York (but maybe not Santana?)

Lesley Goldberg over at The Hollywood Reporter always gets the best Glee scoop and today she landed a doozy: After the show’s 100th episode two-parter (both of which will be tributes to Mr. Schue, something I can’t even talk about right now because good lord), the show is going to concentrate on just New York for a while. According to THR:

The Fox musical will then do several consecutive episodes set in New York City, centering on Rachel (Lea Michele), Blaine (Darren Criss), Kurt (Chris Colfer), Sam (Chord Overstreet) and Mercedes (Amber Riley) and potentially other co-stars.
Hallelujah, praise the heavens, the TV gods have finally heard our – wait a second. Lea, Darren, Chris, Chord, Amber(!!!). Where in the heck is Naya Rivera‘s name on that list? Does she fall under the category “potentially other co-stars” because that is ridiculous. Are we finally moving to Bushwick, where fans have been begging the show to go for years now, only to lose Santana and Kurt’s adorable cattiness to Blaine and Sam’s superhero shenanigans?

Well, now I’m all cranky (one of my “Glee moods,” my friends call it) so I’m going to go ahead and talk about that thing I said I can’t talk about. Apparently the 100th episode two-parter, which, you’ll remember, features seven returning Original New Directioners, including Quinn and Brittany and Mercedes, will focus on the extradimensional awesomeness of Mr. William “La Cucaracha” Schuester. He’ll be saying goodbye to the glee club in the 100th episode because Sue will finally have succeed in disbanding it. Except for not really because Glee has always been no-stakes storytelling and Matthew Morrison isn’t leaving the show.

But! On the upside, Mr. Schue’s “departure” means that Gwyneth Paltrow is returning as Holly Holliday.

Other guest stars for the 100th include Kristen Chenoweth and Chace Crawford, the former Mr. Nate Archibald from Gossip Girl. Chenoweth will be dueting with Morrison on a Pink song and Crawford will be playing Quinn’s boyfriend because God forbid we explore her identity outside of her relationship with a dude.

I just proofread this post and it is total emotional whiplash, which is basically like watching an episode of Glee anyway, so think of it as a way to keep your feelings in tip-top shape during the hiatus.

Glee‘s 100th (and 101st) episode will air on March 18th and March 25th, also knows as: The Nights of the Pretty Little Liars Winter Season Finales. Gird your loins, lesbians. It’s going to be a weird spring.
