Morning Brew – Scotty Rebel and Ne-Yo’s new “Lesbian” song

Good morning! Happy Friday!

Jane Lynch went on Jimmy Kimmel Live last night where she talked about her new star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and hitting herself in the face with her own car door.

Grey’s fans, check out this promo for the two-hour premiere coming Sept. 26.

If you’re into historic lesbians like I am, here’s a great WBEZ piece on famed-social worker Jane Addams.

Frequently the gay reports out of Nigeria are not so good. Today I have this: An interview with Yemisi Ilesanmi, an author and activist who says being LGBT is totally normal.

Out actress Kristen Vangsness is perfect in her role of Garcia for Criminal Minds and on the upcoming ninth season, her character is getting some backstory.

The other day I told you how the actresses who star in Blue is the Warmest Color were a little skeeved out by how the director made them do sex scenes. Now the director, Abdellatif Kechiche, has some words for them:

“How indecent to talk about pain when doing one of the best jobs in the world! Aides suffer, the unemployed suffer, construction workers could talk about suffering. How when you are adored, when you go up on red carpet when we receive awards, how we can speak of suffering?”
Nonetheless, Léa Seydoux and Adèle Exarchopoulos seem to be otherwise proud of the film and are at the Toronto Film Festival promoting it this week.

Rapper Scotty Rebel says she has a new song coming out called “Lesbian” which she wrote with Ne-Yo. Before you get excited, here’s what it’s about:

“[I] have a song called ‘Lesbian.’ It’s basically telling my partner that he acts like a bitch sometimes. You act like a bitch so much that I feel like I’m in a relationship with a girl. You got me feeling like a lesbian.”
How, pray-tell, does she know what it feels like to be a lesbian if she is not one? How does Ne-Yo know, for that matter?

Kristen Stewart is hard at work on Sils Maria, her new film with Juliet Binoche, which has some sapphic tinges. (Yay!)

Sara Gilbert talked with TVGuide about how she’s going to reveal an “embarrassing” secret when The Talk returns next week. She also spoke about how she’s opened up on the show and in public:

I was such a private person before I started The Talk. [Laughs] I don’t know what happened! It almost feels like I’ve started a second life. In my previous lifetime, I didn’t talk about stuff. Now I’ll discuss anything. It’s crazy! But it’s also kind of nice. The show itself has changed a lot, too. At first it was about a group of moms getting together talking about mom things, but then eventually we didn’t talk about our kids at all. Now, two out of the five of us don’t even have kids!
Sara was also on The Late Late Show last night wearing a really cute outfit (per usual).

Diana Nyad is on the cover of AARP magazine this month. You go girl.
