Morning Brew – Casey Legler poses for “Diesel”

Good morning!

Dev may have performed at the Dinah (twice) but she is not gay. Apparently some of us were confused! The singer told PrideSource:

“I just felt bad because when I had a baby, lesbian fans on Twitter were like, ‘Wait a second, I thought you were a lesbian. This is bullshit.’ And I was like, ‘I’m sorry, I love you too, though!’It’s actually really funny and cute. It didn’t offend me at all. If anything, it’s a compliment.”
Also, lesbians can have babies. Just saying.

The International Political Forum has a piece on how 2013 has been for the LGBT community so far: Stormy.

Congrats to Jenna Wolfe and partner Stephanie Gosk on the birth of their daughter! She doesn’t look a day over a day.

Janelle Monae is still keeping coy about her sexual preference in Vibe Vixen.
“An android is my preference. Two androids and a cyborg. I’m someone who sees your spirit and soul. I love passionate androids; one that knows exactly what it’s going to do in life. I like an android who knows how to handle and support an electric lady’s dreams and wings when it’s time to fly.”

Tegan and Sara talk fashion with Into the Gloss. Here’s Tegan on makeup:
“Our makeup also walks this fine line between being tomboy and being feminine. Most of the time, I think people wear too much makeup. Our mom used to tell us to go as long as we could without putting makeup on, because it’s so hard on your skin. But we’re in a business where we’re constantly on stage or having our photo taken. We don’t want to alienate our young audience by being too made up, but we understand how to work our assets. After fourteen years of having our makeup done, we’ve learned a few things. [Laughs]”
Kate McKinnon is enjoying some live performances while she’s got time off from doing her own on SNL. Speaking of Kate, Ellen DeGeneres said she was one of her favorite guests ever in this list of the Ellen’s top 10 Ellen Show moments.

This I’m so excited for: Lost producer Liz Sarnoff has signed a new deal with Fox 21 to create a show about Salem witches. She’s got a new production company called Sarnoff Small Screens which is also headed up by film producer Tricia Small.

In case you’re wondering, Rachel Maddow makes $7 million for hosting The Rachel Maddow Show per year. That’s a lot of blazers!

Out model Casey Legler is in Diesel’s new fall campaign. Good choice Diesel!

Ruby Rose spoke out against cyber-bullying down under.

If you’re available this afternoon, tune into HuffPost Live where I’ll be talking about “Lesbian Love Lexicon,” aka all those terms we like to use about ourselves in the community. It starts at 5:10PM EST.

Out Jersey Strong star Brooke Barnett donned a tie for an interview about the new show yesterday. It premieres on Pivot Sept. 14.
