Greetings, LDIO readers. This week my thoughts are with the victims of Hurricane Harvey and the city of Houston. If you live in Houston or have loved ones in the area, my heart goes out to you. If you wish to donate to relief efforts, this article provides some good starting points.

Moving on to the news, this week a source claimed Ruby Rose might quit Hollywood, Stella Maxwell flaunted her Victoria’s Secret angel wings on the streets of NYC, and Kristen Stewart danced to Beyoncé for Chanel. Lez get to it!

Ring the alarm Ruby fans: the celesbian might be moving on from Hollywood.

According to the Australian publication Now To Love, Ms. Rose is allegedly exhausted after completing a bunch of film projects (Pitch Perfect 3, Orange is the New Black, xXx: Return of Xander Cage, John Wick: Chapter 2) and she reportedly wants to take an extended break from acting.

A source close to the actress told the outlet:

She’s burnt out and wants to head home. Quitting Hollywood is the one thing she can smile about right now.”
The insider added:

“Ruby’s trying to have a fun life, not a busy one. And she loves the idea of hanging out on the beach more than waiting around on a set. She’s had some insane money offers, but she’s turned them all down. The conditions weren’t right and she’s tired as hell.”

Well, all of that sounds reasonable to me. I wouldn’t be surprised if Rose takes a few years off before returning to acting… I don’t necessarily see her quitting for good.

P.S. Take a look at Ruby enjoying some downtime with her girlfriend Jessica Origliasso in China:

In other Ruby news, it looks like the star received some backlash for donating 1oK to an LGBTQ Disaster Relief Fund in Houston following Hurricane Harvey (check out the fund HERE).

The fund states on its website:

“The catastrophic and historic impact of Hurricane Harvey will be felt by the LGBTQ community of Houston Texas for days, months, and potentially years to come. Help our LGBTQ community members displaced by the storm today by giving to the LGBTQ Disaster Relief Fund, managed by the Montrose Center — Houston’s LGBTQ counseling and community center serving Houston for 39 years. With more than 35,000 clients in core programs we are already learning of staff and community members who have lost everything. The LGBTQ Disaster Relief Fund will be used to help individuals and families begin to rebuild their lives through counseling, case management, direct assistance with shelf stable food, furniture, housing and more. The Center’s dedicated case management team is on call to help homeless youth, seniors, people living with HIV, hate crime survivors, and those devastated by the storm.”
Apparently, this did NOT sit well with some fans and Rose had to address the NONSENSE controversy on Twitter.

I think Rose did a great job of explaining the situation and diverting attention to the victims of this catastrophe.

Lesbian Filmmaker JD Disalvatore Passes Away SoCalAdoptDogs/YouTube

This is sad news to report.

On Aug. 24, the beloved lesbian director, producer, and activist died of cancer at age 51. Disalvatore is best known for Eating Out 2, A Marine Story, Gay Propaganda, Elena Undone, and Shelter, which won a GLAAD Media Award for best feature film in limited release.

In addition to the artist’s wide breadth of work, she served on the Board of Directors of the Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce, was the festival manager of Outfest, and was a mentor with the Point Foundation. Disalvatore was also a dedicated animal rights activist and she raised a ton of money for animal shelters across the country. It goes without saying that her compassion and love for animals knew no bounds.

To honor JD’s memory, you can make a donation to Outfest, The Point Foundation, and the East Valley Animal Shelter.

If you ever wanted to watch Kristen dance to Beyoncé, now is your chance.

Earlier this week, the bisexual star starred in the video ad for Chanel’s “Grabrielle” fragrance after months of anticipation. Dressed in a gauzy cocoon-like ensemble, Stewart dances, runs, and punches through a wall of Gabrielle perfume bottles to the tune of Bey’s “Runnin.” If you’re a fan of Kristen, Beyoncé, and dramatic perfume ads, then you’ll love this video.

Take a look at the ad below:

Who knew Cara was such a hopeless romantic?

“Yeah, I do believe in a one and only love.”

The bisexual model also opened up on her bad judgment in men:

“I think I’ve probably fallen for cocky guys. Usually they haven’t been as nice. Usually a man with cockiness and that kind of thing… it’s a double-edged sword in a way.”
On another note, it looks like Delevingne is currently having a BLAST in St. Tropez with Karl Lagerfeld and Joan Collins… because of course. Check out the photos:

Jealous. Stella Maxwell Shows Off Her Angel Wings Photo: Stella Maxwell/Instagram

It’s almost that time of the year again.

On Aug. 28, Maxwell showed off her Victoria’s Secret angel wings following a fitting in New York City. The queer model has walked for Victoria’s Secret Fashion show since 2014, and she became an official “angel” in 2015.

VSFS will air at 10 p.m. Eastern Time on Nov. 28. Riverdale‘s New Character Receives Hate Online Photo: Vanessa Morgan/Instagram

This is unfortunate.

Following the news that Riverdale would introduce a bisexual character in its second season, some fans lashed out. Apparently, the fans in question did not like that the character might threaten a ship on the show, and they took it out on the actress Vanessa Morgan.

The actress revealed:

“I’ve already had some death threats. But the thing is, it’s half death threats because they don’t want that [actually] happening, and there’s half that’s just all love. Who knows if [my character coming between Bughead] is even going to happen. People are just jumping to conclusions.”
Despite all of the hate, Vanessa is happy to champion a bi storyline. Morgan said, according to Glamour:
It’s so huge because I have so many bisexual friends [in real life]…. I’m happy to be representing [that with this character]. You can love both [genders]. It doesn’t matter guy or girl, so I’m proud to represent that.”
Well said. Samira Wiley Talks Her Emmy Nomination Photo: Samira Wiley/Instagram

I really hope Samira comes out on top at this year’s Emmys.

In a recent conversation with People, Wiley opened up on her Emmy nom for her work in The Handmaid’s Tale, saying:

I remember being so sad and downtrodden after hearing that I couldn’t even go to an arts school. And now this Emmy thing is happening. I feel like Cinderella. I couldn’t believe it! I was like ‘Me? Actually me?'”
The lesbian actress also went on to reveal that her wife, Lauren Morrelli, was the first person she called after hearing the news. Samira said of her marriage with Morelli:
“We’re not both actors, which I like. There’s no competition there, but also she works in this industry so she understands it so much more. I just feel so blessed to be able to have her on my team.”
So cute. Here’s to Wiley snagging an Emmy on Sept. 17!

Ellen DeGeneres Honors The Victims Of Hurricane Harvey Photo: The Ellen Show/YouTube

Props to Ellen for using her platform to bring awareness to the victims of Hurricane Harvey.

On Aug. 28, DeGeneres shared a heartfelt and emotional tribute to the city of Houston on her show. The lesbian comic also donated $25,000 to the American Red Cross and $25,000 to the SPCA of Texas. Additionally, The Ellen DeGeneres Show donated $25,000 to the American Red Cross.

The host said of her donation:

A lot of people in Texas have lost their homes. The city of Houston has been hit the hardest. I know people want to help. I would like to help.”
Check out the moment below:

On another note, Ellen revived her stand-up career at the Largo on Aug. 30. As expected, her wife Portia de Rossi lent her support for the evening. Check out the photos:

https://twitter.com/EllenD_world/status/902858046220664833 Activist Kai Hazelwood Raises Awareness For The Bisexual Community

Three cheers for LGBTQ activists.

In honor of bi awareness month, the activist, dancer, and choreographer Kai Hazelwood synced up with fellow collaborators to create an inspiring three piece dance performance titled, 3 Piece Suite. The show, which will take place on Sep. 8 in Los Angeles, “explores bisexual identity, activism, and the complexity of human connection along with musical performances by bi singer songwriter Cindy Jollotta and an acoustic set by bi-fronted MetronOhm.” One piece of the show, inVISIBLE, will focus on the members of Los Angeles’ bisexual community “who have shared their own personal narratives around coming out as bisexual, their families, and romantic relationships.”

Here’s a snippet from Kai’s interview about inVISIBLE:

On the inception of inVISIBLE: “The nugget of the idea started when I was creating a piece for the Bisexual Arts Festival. I did a little bitty art piece for it that got my wheels turning and it was a subject matter that I was interested in. As an organizer for the group (Kai is the co-runner of Ambi LA) you hear so many stories about people who feel completely alone, like, ‘I didn’t even know that I was bisexual because I didn’t know that term included me.’ So, I wanted to find a way to create a project that would tell personal stories that other people could see and hear that would make them realize, ‘Oh that’s how I feel!’ Or, ‘Oh, that relates to my experience!’ The stories I hear are all variations of the same thing. That was kind of the idea behind the project.”

On choosing dance as the medium for the performance: “It’s the way I see the world. Anything that I’m interested is the lens I process things through. Given the type of work I do, I’m really interested in figuring out how to physicalize personal stories. So, it felt like a really interesting challenge to me. Also, it’s another way to approach the subject rather than it be a support group or reading something. How do we approach this in a way that’s engaging and that feels new and celebratory, rather than, ‘This is the stuff we have to talk about – let’s raise visibility!'”

In addition to inVISIBLE, the show will feature “Sh*t People Say” a performance that will tackle the”complications of intersectionality and co-struggle” and “Seeking…,” which will explore “how blind faith plays a huge part in our intimate relationships.”

You can buy tickets HERE. For more updates on Kai and her work, click HERE.

That’s it! I’m out.
