Thank you Pink, for firing back at Grammys president Neil Portnow, who condescended to tell Variety that women in the music industry need to ‘step up’ in response to the male-dominated winner’s list. Watch:
Pink was nominated for best pop solo performance at the 2018 Grammys. Last week, The New York Times reported that only nine percent of all Grammy nominees in the past six years have been women. And no, Mr. Portnow, it is not because they haven’t “stepped up”…it’s because of a thing called sexism in the music business, and patriarchy world-wide. Got it? Pink gets it. We get it. We don’t know why you don’t get it.
