Snap Judgment: Ellen Page in “2012: Time for Change”

Described as an “optimistic alternative to apocalyptic doom and gloom,” the film 2012: Time for Change is a documentary feature that presents ways to “transform our unsustainable society into a regenerative planetary culture.”

Directed by Emmy Award nominee João Amorim, the film follows journalist Daniel Pinchbeck on a “quest for a new paradigm that integrates the archaic wisdom of tribal cultures with the scientific method.”

The filmmakers suggest that humans can be “conscious agents of evolution” and can “redesign post-industrial society on ecological principles to make a world that works for all.”

Explaining how to put that theory into practice in the trailer is actress Ellen Page, who suggests an eco-friendly way to do your laundry.

The film also features appearances by David Lynch, Sting and a host of other folks who envision a world where “collaboration replaces competition, where exploration of psyche and spirit becomes the new cutting edge, replacing the sterile materialism that has pushed our world to the brink.”

Will you see the movie because you want to participate in the “global change of consciousness” or is the Ellen Page laundry demo worth the price of the popcorn?

2012: Time for Change opens in Los Angeles on October 8 and in New York on October 15. For more information, visit the official website. (Hat tip, Caroline!)
