Opening in theaters tonight: Dreamgirls, loosely based on the story of The Supremes. The film is an adaptation of the Tony-award-winning Broadway musical, and stars BeyoncÀãÆ© Knowles, Anika Noni Rose and Jennifer Hudson.
Hudson was a finalist on the third season of American Idol, ultimately losing to Fantasia Barrino. Rose has appeared on Third Watch and has won a ridiculous number of awards for her many stage roles. If you don’t already know who Knowles is you shouldn’t be playing the game. But if you’re willing to give her the benefit of the doubt concerning her rumored homophobia, who am I to deprive you of a delicious pic of the chick?
So far critics seem underwhelmed, but moviegoers can at least count on candy for the eyes and ears being included in the price of admission.
Oh yeah: Eddie Murphy, Jamie Foxx and Danny Glover also star.
