Here’s why people are upset about the all-female ‘Lord of the Flies’ remake

There’s going to be an all-female cast of Lord of the Flies and the internet reacted. Strongly. If you’ve read the 1954 novel by William Golding, you might understand why this new spin about boys left parentless and unsupervised on an island is controversial. Replacing boys with girls will “help people see the story anew,” according to Scott McGehee, who is making the film with David Seigel. This means not only is a story about boys-gone-wild being turned into a story about females, but it’s being made by men, which many are questioning. If they’re replacing boys with girls, thus telling a female story, we at least hope they’re hiring a female crew. A female director would be ideal. Watch what Twitter had to say.
