Our Love Story, directed by Lee Hyun-Ju, premiered in the U.S. at the San Diego Asian Film festival in November. A moving story about lesbian love (and first lesbian love for one of the characters), the plot is centered around protagonists Yoon-ju and Ji-soo, an art student and a bartender. The two women’s attraction, jealousy, shame, lust, and all of the other emotions that go hand-in-hand with budding love unravel slowly and deliberately over the course of the 99-minute film. If you require a lot of action and despise art flicks, this in’t for you. Expect thoughtful, beautifully crafted visuals and just the right amount of romantic tension to make an intriguing and compelling love story.
In Korean with English subtitles, Our Love Story has already won Grand Prize at the Korean Competition, was the 2016 Jeonju International Film Festival Official Selection, and 2016 Vancouver International Film Festival. Starring Lee Sang-hee, Ryu Sun-young, Park Keun-rok.
