Watch “Vámonos,” a short about a woman who won’t let her butch girlfriend be buried in a dress
One of the best short films on the festival circuit in the last year, Vámonos tells the story of Hope (Jessica Camacho), whose butch girlfriend, Mac (Victoria Ortiz), just passed away. As if that’s not bad enough, Mac’s mom is planning to bury her in a dress, something Hope knows Mac would have hated. With the help of her best friends, Hope makes sure that Mac will be remembered the way she would have wanted.
Co-written by Moira Morel and Erick Castrillon and directed by Marvin Bryan Lemus, Vámonos is finally available online via PBS. We promise it’s not as sad as it sounds.
