The wait is nearly over for the Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara led lesbian love story, Carol. It’s been three years since AfterEllen first reported on the film, and after much anticipation, the trailer for the 1950s based film is here.
Set to the 1949 hit, “My Foolish Heart,” the trailer for the Todd Haynes directed film is a lush and gorgeous step back in time. The story, based on the Patricia Highsmith novel The Price of Salt, tells the story of an unlikely romance between two women: Carol (Blanchett) a wealthy married woman, and Therese (Mara) a younger shop girl and aspiring photographer. (In the book she’s an aspiring set designer.) Of course there will be passion, angst, and drama, which is exactly what we love in a good queer film. The movie also features out queer actresses Sarah Paulson and Carrie Brownstein, although they don’t appear in the trailer. Check it out for yourself!
Carol opens on November 27th.
