Dakota Fanning might be putting on some fangs

Dakota Fanning as a blood-sucking, elitist vampire who inflicts panic on people three times her size?

OK, I’ll bite. (See what I did there? Bite. Vampires. OK, fine. Moving on.)

E! News reports that the fully adolescent Fanning — she’s almost 15! — is in talks to star opposite Robert Pattinson‘s hair in the upcoming Twilight movie sequel, New Moon. Fanning is being offered the role of prized Volturi guard, Jane.

"There were no auditions," a source told E!. "They just offered it to her outright, and now they’re in negotiations. They’ve been going back and forth."

In the book, Jane’s physical appearance is a bit androgynous. She has short, pale brown hair and an angelic face with full lips and crimson eyes. (So, you know, sinister.) Also, she’s full of torture.

Twilight hit theaters on Nov. 21 last year, sliding into the spot left open when Warner Brothers’ executives pushed the release of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince to spring. It was the third-largest grossing movie of 2008, outranked only by The Dark Knight and Star Wars: Clone Wars.

Fanning is no stranger to mega-blockbusters. She’s held her own with Sean Penn and Denzel Washington. So in addition to her creepiness, she’d be adding some actual acting credentials to the cast of New Moon
