Juan Paulo Laserna on why he made “Las Malas Lenguas” about a complicated queer female character
In his new film Las Malas Lenguas (Sweet and Vicious) writer/director Juan Paulo Laserna tells the story of a young woman in Colombia who falls in love with her best friend, but finds she’s pregnant from her ex-boyfriend. Torn between the two, she has a lot of difficult decisions to make, and as Juan told us on the Los Angeles Film Festival opening night red carpet, he wanted to tell the honest story about a real person with real struggles.
Las Malas Lenguas premiered at LAFF this week and will hit theaters in Columbia sometime this year, with distribution in the US in the works.
