“WNBA Roundtable: 15th Anniversary” airs tonight on NBA-TV

This is WNBA All-Star weekend and the league is celebrating its 15th anniversary in grand style with special presentations, clinics and a half time ceremony to announce the Top 15 players of all time. The All-Star players, selected by fans, always put on a great show – and have a blast.

Tonight, four of the candidates for that list reflect on the history of the WNBA in an NBA-TV presentation, WNBA Roundtable: 15th Anniversary. The show premiers tonight, July 21, at 6 p.m. ET.

Two-time WNBA champion Lisa Leslie; former teammates Sheryl Swoopes and Tina Thompson, who led the Houston Comets to four championship titles; and Hall of Famer Lynette Woodard reflect on the birth of the league, some of the greatest moments and players, their own personal journeys and favorite memories, and the impact of the WNBA on sports.

Here’s a preview.

I don’t know about you, but even that short clip made me choke up. Thanks to the dedication of players like these and the commitment of the WNBA to survive, young ballers growing up now can dream about playing professional basketball in the U.S.

No worries if you miss the premiere showing — the 30-minute special will run frequently all weekend. Check local listings and NBA-TV for times. The WNBA All-Star Game tips off Saturday at 3:30 ET on ABC.
