New Music Tuesday: 3-2-2010

Hello friends! I am back from vacation without even the slightest bit of a tan and the only thing to comfort and ease me back into the work week is a fresh crop of new music.

This week’s coveted top spot goes to Little Boots. Ever since last year’s South by Southwest Festival I couldn’t look at a music site without some mention of this cute little nymph. To be honest, I didn’t really get all the hype but now that I’ve listened to her full-length debut I’ve changed my tune. It’s fun, fresh and poptastic. It kind of reminds me of one Kylie Minogue, which is never a bad thing.

A great play for a rainy day. Her voice is dreamy and smooth with a slight twang. If you haven’t checked out her project, Bell Horses, get on it.

I don’t care what it is, if it has Sarah Silverman’s name on it, I will celebrate it. Sure, her humor is mostly sophomoric poop jokes, but I can’t help myself — I love her (and the big fake ginger gays on her show). I mean come on — “when life hands you AIDS, make lemonAIDS.”

Honorable Mentions: Do not hesitate, pick up the new Groove Armada album. Their collaborating partner, Saint Saviour is my latest obsession. Others to check out are Athlete, Shearwater and Rogue Wave. Who did I miss this week? Who should I be looking out for next week?
