The 2009 movie Make the Yuletide Gay tells the story of a college student going home for the holidays. While he’s completely out at college, he has yet to come out to his parents, which is a problem when his boyfriend shows up unexpectedly.
This time of year has often been tricky terrain for us gays. The holidays are supposed to be all about family, and if your family isn’t accepting of you or your wife/partner/girlfriend, well, it’s sort of hard to get in the holiday spirit.
But given the changes in attitudes toward gays and lesbians ever since the Stonewall Riots, it’s probably a true statement that more of us have happier holidays now than ever before. And that got us wondering how gay our readers’ Yuletide celebrations might be.
So we did a post where you could tell us! So whether you are traditional and jolly, or a little more on the Grinch side of things, let us know what your plans are and how they go, what gifts you give and get or what crazy Grandma Kay said when you announced you were getting married! We already know at least one reader is planning on coming out to her folks (fingers crossed!) or just tell us your best Christmas/Hanukkah/Kwanzaa story, what your favorite gift was or anything else related to the holidays!
