Afternoon Delight: Chely Wright’s NOH8 photo, half-ninja lesbian ex-girlfriends and “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo”

I’m about to write something that’s going to cause lightning to strike, so do me a favor and move away from your laptop a little bit. No, seriously – just scoooot on back there. Ready? OK. With all the Harry Potter and Twilight hype in the air, I completely forgot there’s a new Chronicles of Narnia movie coming out this year! (Is everyone good? I was pretty sure the world was going to explode when I confessed out loud that I remembered Stephanie Meyer and forgot CS Lewis.)

The Voyage of the Dawn Treader trailer dropped last night and it made such an awesome clang that I actually woke up to get into an online argument about how CS Lewis shouldn’t have written Susan Pevensie out of Narnia just because she discovered lipstick. (Which is essentially what happened, so don’t get me started!)

Tilda Swinton is one of the most underrated movie baddies ever! Remember in the first Narnia when she comes riding into battle wearing Aslan’s coat? Evil! And little Georgie Henley is all grown up! And so is Skandar Keynes!

Even more fantasy goodness came crashing down today too. The Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World international trailer was unveiled, and it has a whole extra minute of footage, including a longer clip of Mae Whitman as Ramona’s (half-ninja) lesbian evil ex. Also, Scott Pilgrim grapples with “the L Word” in this one.

This week’s Entertainment Weekly is all about the hottest books on the planet, and The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo snagged the cover. Scott Rudin, who is producing the already super-hyped American film adaptation of Stieg Larsson’s masterpiece, gave a full interview to EW. In it he talks about the intense speculation about who will play bisexual computer hacker Lisbeth Salander.

… Actresses as diverse as Kristen Stewart, Natalie Portman, Scarlett Johansson and Carey Mulligan are being talked about for Lisbeth.

Rudin says casting should wrap in a month or two, but nothing has been decided yet. “I’m happy that people are speculating, but it’s all fantasy,” he insists. “I would be careful about believing what you’re reading. Let me remind you that Katharine Hepburn was at one point announced to be Scarlett O’Hara. [Laughs] That’s not to say that it won’t end up being one of them, but you can certainly say it isn’t any of them yet.”

Hey, here’s a lovely new photo of Chely Wright for you to gaze upon this afternoon.

And here’s some lovely news: Melissa Etheridge and every-gay-favorite Neil Patrick Harris are among the celebs who will be putting down stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame some time between now and 2011. You can see a full list of honorees (including Tina Fey and Oprah) at WeHo Daily. (Yeah, I also think it’s weird Oprah doesn’t have a star yet. I guess that’s because she controls the actual stars in the actual night sky.)

Are you watching MTV’s Downtown Girls? Me neither, but this week’s episode showed Victoria (the Carrie Bradshaw character) going on a date with a woman “because the producers of the show told her to.” Here’s the end of their date. (Caution: INSANE Amounts of Awkwardness Ahead.)

If you didn’t get a chance to watch Betty White’s new TV Land sitcom, Hot in Cleveland, last night, don’t worry. NewNowNext is recapping the series, so you can catch right up next week!

And speaking of triple “N”s, don’t forget that the NewNowNext awards air tonight on Logo. We’ll be streaming it live, but if you want a sneak peek at what’s going down, check out our brothers at AfterElton.com. They’ve put a whole post together to tease you.

And finally, Gossip Girl Taylor Momsen has a band; did you know? They’re called The Pretty Reckless and Billboard.com is streaming their new LP today. And guess what? It’s, like, really good. (“So you agree, you’re really pretty?”) Better than Leighton Meester’s album, for sure. I guess little J’s gotta best Queen B at something. Have a listen and see what you think.

OK, enough news. Polls and hot ladies! That’s what we do here in Afternoon Delight! Polls first!

And since we’re in full-blown nerd herd mode today, the Afternoon Delight is brought to you by Olivia Munn – because it’s gaming convention and comic con time and nothing says fangirls like G4 (and astronauts). (You’re welcome, Kaya!)
