The Closet: Everything Coming Out This Week (May 24 – 31)

It’s the last week of the regular TV season, and we’re saying goodbye forever to some lesbian favorites. But on the up-side, Portia is going to be back on Ellen, and Chely Wright is stopping by, too. Plus Cynthia Nixon is on her Sex and the City media blitz.

Here’s everything else you need to know about everything coming out this week.

10 Things I Hate About You (ABC Family, 8:30) – Features lesbian student Mandela.

24 (Fox, 9:00) – Cherry Jones stars as President Taylor in the series finale.

Nurse Jackie (Showtime, 10:00) – Jackie goes out of her way to try to secure a prescription from Dr. O’Hara. [AfterEllen.com Nurse Jackie recaps]

American Idol (Fox, 8:00) – Ellen DeGeneres & Co. sit on the judges panel for the season nine finale.

Biggest Loser: Couples (NBC, 8:00) – It’s the live season finale, featuring Jillian Michaels.

Glee (Fox, 9:30) – Lady Gaga week. What more do you need to know?

The Big Gay Sketch Show (Logo, 10:00) – A Suze Orman parody and a trip to IKEA for a lesbian couple make this one of my favorite episodes of the third season.

Portia de Rossi on Ellen – Portia visits Ellen again to talk about The Gentle Barn, an animal rescue organization that provides learning experiences for at-risk youth.

Cynthia Nixon on Regis and Kelly – The openly gay actress stops by to talk about Sex and the City 2.

American Idol (Fox, 8:00) – The show crowns a winner in its ninth season.

Top Chef Masters (Bravo, 11:00) – The remaining five chefs, including lesbian Susan Feniger, whip up foods inspired by Greek gods, and participate in the “name the ingredient” challange.

Kathy Griffin on The Tonight Show (NBC, 11:35) – You never know what to expect. I’m hoping for a marriage equality rant, and some bleeped out F-bombs.

FlashForward (ABC, 8:00) – It’s the series finale. Time to say goodbye to lesbian FBI agent Janis Hawk. [AfterEllen.com FlashForward recaps]

Chely Wright on Ellen – After last week’s candid interview with Oprah, Chelly talks to the other queen of daytime. I wonder if she’ll make Ellen cry too.

Police Women of Memphis (TLC, 9:00) – Features lesbian policewoman Ashley, who just married her partner in a civil ceremony in Canada.

Friday Night Lights (NBC, 8:00) – Lesbian student Devin sneaks off to a gay bar. (Check out our interview with Stephanie Hunt if you haven’t already!)

Stargate Universe (SyFy, 9:00) – Features lesbian IOA Officer Camile Wray.

The Rachel Maddow Show, week nights at 9:00 on MSNBC. [AfterEllen.com’s Rachel Watch]

Issues with Jane Valez-Mitchell, nightly at 7:00 on CNN’s Headline News.

The Suze Orman Show, Saturdays at 5 a.m., 9 p.m., and 12 a.m. on CNBC.

The Ellen DeGeneres Show, daytime weekdays.

Sex and the City 2 (opens Friday) – After the first Sex and the City movie, studio execs had the jarring epiphany that women go to the cinema too! Maybe that will happen again this time. If not, though, we always enjoy a chance to watch Cynthia Nixon on the big screen. And this time, we’ve got a gay wedding.

Anyone But Me is all new tomorrow, as well, and we’ll have it for you at AfterEllen.com as soon as its available!

Big thanks to AfterEllen.com reader roni1133 for her help with the talk show circuit round-up!
