The “Anyone But Me” premiere party sets the pace for season 2

New York City may be the only place on earth where people will maintain long distance relationships with people in say, Boston, but if one’s lover moves from Manhattan to Brooklyn, it’s like she moved to Siberia. And Westchester? Despite being 20 miles away, it might as well be Mars. So it is no wonder that, when Vivian and Aster in the web series Anyone But Me were separated by a county line that can only be gatecrashed by Metro North (because no one in New York City can drive), their relationship started to suffer.

But at the end of last season, Vivian finally made out with Aster in public, and they live happily ever after.

Or do they?

Yesterday I was able to attend the Anyone But Me season 2 launch party, where I caught the first episode of the new season. Let’s just say that it was trippy, sort of in the vein of Jenny’s carnival montages in The L Word, except that it isn’t psycho and doesn’t feature a ferris wheel. Instead, it is heartwarming and pretty awesome. So I guess it isn’t like Jenny’s carnival sequences at all.

I attempted to get the creators of the series, Susan Miller and Tina Cesa Ward, drink in hand, so they would allow me to publish spoilers, but alas, they saw through my ruse, so the conversation went like this:

AE: Can I talk about [CENSORED]?

Susan and Tina: No.

AE: What about [CENSORED]?

Susan and Tina: No.

AE: Can I at least say that it was “trippy”?

Susan and Tina: [looks at each other] OK.

Anyway, this isn’t foreshadowing. This is just a candid shot. And a trippy one at that.

All right, maybe I’m just stirring the pot. Or maybe I’m not. Or maybe I am. In any event, you’ll have to tune in Dec. 15 for the premiere of Season 2 to find out what really happens to the ladies of Anyone But Me.

In the meantime, check out the latest fan vid from actress Liza Weil.
