Season 7 will be the last we’ll see of our favorite female TV prisoners. Netflix recently announced that  ‘Orange Is The New Black’ is coming to an end in 2019.  Jenji Kohan, the series creator, made a statement about Litchfield closing its doors.

The series was one of Netflix’s first original shows, and it was definitely the most groundbreaking show we’ve seen. Who could have guessed that a mainstream show about lesbian prisoners would become so beloved by all audiences?

Cindy Holland, Netflix Vice President of original content, admitted it was “too good to last forever.” Kevin Beggs, chairman of Lionsgate Television group, referred to the show as one that has “profoundly impacted popular culture worldwide.” He also said the final season is said to be one fans “will not forget.”

Season seven premieres in summer 2019.
