Having completely missed all opportunities for April Fool’s jokes, this would have been a good one: “Did you hear Lindsay Lohan and Vanessa Hudgens may star in a Cagney and Lacey movie?”
Although there’s nothing confirmed (and reports could have stemmed from a satire site) there’s a lot of talk going around that the two former Disney actresses may, in fact, team up to reprise Sharon Gless and Tyne Daly‘s roles as the iconic ’80s policewomen in what many refer to as the first television drama with two female leads.
Is your mind blown yet? Lindsay Lohan as a lady copy is one thing (you know, in my dreams), and I think she’d actually be pretty good as a tough NYC cop. But, I’m not totally convinced the High School Musical star/nude photo scandal-maker Hudgens would be as convincing. Maybe I’m just biased.
According to PopCrunch, “There’ll be romance, tears, broken hearts and a lot of close ups. And singing and dancing.” What?
Something tells me revamping the show, which featured two career-driven women, one of which was a single mother, as a musical wouldn’t go over so well. Just because Jessica Simpson did a little song and dance in the film version of Dukes of Hazard doesn’t mean all subsequent show-to-film make-overs should follow suit. Besides, I sort of prefer Lindsay just stick to jams like “Rumors” and “Bossy.”
If a Cagney and Lacey film is a must in the fist place, do you think Lindsay and Vanessa are the best choices? Could it be just what they both need to revitalize their careers after so much public embarrassment?
