It’s hard to believe it’s been three years since we last saw Gina, Ani, Lara and the rest of the Venice: The Series crew. The show left us with a huge cliffhanger too: would Ani (Jessica Leccia) go through with her wedding to Lara (Nadia Bjorlin), or run away with her other love, Gina (Crystal Chappell)? Well, we may finally be getting some answers!
This week, writer/producer/creator and star, Crystal Chappell, announced an Indiegogo campaign to fund a fifth and final season of Venice. Venice was originally inspired by the relationship between Crystal and Jessica’s characters on Guiding Light, but the show quickly took on a life of its own and featured a who’s who of soap stars and juicy plot twists. “I created VENICE THE SERIES with my partners and decided to produce it specifically for the WEB to be able to tell LESBIAN stories without censorship! No Brass to tell me who can kiss and who can’t. Who can live and who can die! And certainly no one to tell me to have the Lesbian sleep with a man because the advertisers are upset.”
Tell em, Crystal! Venice certainly was groundbreaking and elevated what a webseries could be. Now they need the fans’ help to make a final season reality. There are some pretty terrific perks, including set visits, internships, lunch with the cast, and of course posters, autographs and t-shirts.
