Yes, it’s frakking true! Next season will be the last one for “Battlestar Galactica”

The LA Times reported today that Sci Fi’s critically acclaimed cult hit, Battlestar Galactica, will end after the conclusion of next season, its fourth. Producers David Eick and Ronald D. Moore said in a statement:

“This show was always meant to have a beginning, a middle and finally, an end. Over the course of the last year, the story and the characters have been moving strongly toward that end and we’ve decided to listen to those internal voices and conclude the show on our own terms. And while we know our fans will be saddened to know the end is coming, they should brace themselves for a wild ride getting there — we’re going out with a bang.”

While I am really bummed to hear this, I can actually see what they mean, and I admire them for sticking to their guns and ending it before it slides into the miserable land of X-Files: Season 9. This means there are only 22 more episodes of Boomer/Sharon/Athena, President Roslin and (say it with me) Starbuck.

But wait, there’s hope! In a recent interview, Lucy Lawless hints there may be a chance her character, cylon D’Anna Biers, will return to BSG. And we can also catch Katee Sackhoff next fall as the villain in the new Bionic Woman.
