There’s something about Marija…
Marija Serifovic (pictured above, center) took Europe by storm this weekend when she won the 2007 Eurovision Song Competition, which was watched by an estimated 100 million people worldwide. Is Marija a lesbian? She’s not saying — but her lesbian-ish performance in the contest, and her refusal to to publicly disavow rumors that she’s a lesbian, or bow to international pressure to dress more femininely, has made her a huge hit with lesbians around the world.
Here are some more photos of Marija:

Finally, here are the lyrics to “Molitva” (“Prayer”) in English:
I’m wide awake
An empty bed drives my dreams away
Life melts like ice
Disappears in the twinkling of an eye
I’m losing my mind,
Pushing reality out of sight
Our lips are touching softly
You’re the one I believe blindly
I walk around like crazy
Falling in love frightens me
Days are like wounds
Countless and hard to get through
Prayer…
It burns my sore lips like a fire
Prayer…
Thy name is something I admire
Heaven knows just as well as I do
So many times I have cried over you
Heaven knows just as well as I do
I pray and live only for you
I can’t lie to God
as I kneel down and pray
You’re the love of my life
That’s the only thing I can say
I somehow can’t imagine a woman who dresses like Marija singing those words on American Idol. Especially not with women in suits suggestively holding hands in the background. Actually, I can’t imagine a woman who dresses like Marija getting on American Idol at all, even if she was singing “When a Man Loves a Woman” with straight couples making out on the floor next to her. America might be progressive in some areas, but Europe puts us to shame in this department.
