Morning Brew – Wed. June 12: Keira Knightley and Chloë Grace Moretz to hook up in “Laggies,” more Paily on “PLL”

Michelle Chamuel has made it into the finals of The Voice. I’m not surprised, I’m just delighted! Let’s look at Michelle behind-the-scenes, when the competition isn’t so stressful.

I was so happy to see Paige and Emily doing lesbian things on Pretty Little Liars last night. Looks like we’ll see more of Lindsey Shaw next week too.

Speaking of PLL, the book series’ author Sara Shepherd did a Q&A at Goodreads where she talked about Emily’s queerness.

I think it’s great that gay and lesbian teens, especially, can see a character on TV who struggled with her sexuality, dealt with family backlash, and has now gotten through it and is living her life. I also know that the PLL staff did a video for the It Gets Better campaign for LGBT kids and bullying. When I started writing the books, I always knew I wanted a gay character who was just coming into her own-I just had no idea how many people her story would reach. I just hope seeing a healthy, confident girl will help a lot of struggling teens out there.

Apparently Chloë Grace Moretz and Keira Knightley will be getting it on in their new film Laggies. Keira plays “a woman who runs away from home and develops a friendship with a group of teenagers after being caught off-guard by her boyfriend’s marriage proposal.” The film is written and directed by Lynne Shelton, who did Your Sister’s Sister and Humpday, so it’ll be great, for sure.

EDIT: A rep has reached out to say this is just a rumor and the girls do not hook up in the film. Sorry!

Degrassi has released some new photos of Annie Clark aka Fiona from the upcoming season.

Ellen DeGeneres is going to produce a film version of Lauren Graham’s novel Someday, Someday, Maybe. I’m still waiting for the Sing You Home adaptation.

Kirsten Vangsness went on CBS LA to talk about her latest project, Kill Me Deadly.

Portlandia has been picked up for two more seasons, which means I can look forward to at least two to three more years of having people ask me if living in Portland is really like the show makes it seem. (The answer is yes.)

Goldfrapp will put out their new self-produced album, Tales Of Us, on September 10.
