Kristen Stewart is Juliette Binoche’s sapphic “handywoman” in “Sils Maria”

Kristen Stewart did a great Joan Jett in The Runaways, but we have yet to see her fully be part of a lesbian relationship on film. Sils Maria could be our chance. The actress’s new role sounds somewhat Sapphic, as described by the production company:

Trapped in the turmoil of her divorce, that strips her from any emotional anchoring, the only person Maria Enders (played by Juliette Binoche) speaks to is her assistant, Valentine (played by Kristen Stewart), both a handywoman and her only friend. Even though both women try to erase all the ambiguities that make up their exclusive and intimate relationship.

According to Deadline, the film will be set in Switzerland and “follows the story of an actress (Juliette) that becomes obsessed with a younger actress (Chloe Grace Moretz) who is portraying the same role that made Juliette’s character famous in her youth.” So three women in weird obsessive relationships with one another? Count me in.

The film’s writer-director Olivier Assayas said he specifically wrote the movie with Juliette Binoche in mind and it is also somewhat based on her. The French actress is no stranger to lesbian-leanings, as she had a very sexy scene with Lena Olin in the 1998 movie The Unbearable Lightness of Being.

Krisbians, are you as psyched on Sils Maria as I am?
