“The Ellen DeGeneres Show” is up for five Daytime Emmys


Ellen DeGeneres is continuing to build an Oprah-esque empire by having her show come out on top at the Daytime Emmys. At least, she’s poised to do so with five nominations, as announced today. The Ellen DeGeneres Show is up for Outstanding New Approaches – Enhancement to a Daytime Program or Series (for the show’s website), Outstanding Directing (Liz Patrick), Outstanding Achievement in Lighting Direction (lighting director Marisa Davis), Outstanding Special Class Writing, and Outstanding Achievement in Technical Direction, Electronic Camera/Video Control.

Other notable lesbian-friendly nominees for this year’s Daytime Emmys include The Bold and the Beautiful (Outstanding Drama Series), Best Thing I Ever Made (Outstanding Culinary Program), The Today Show (Outstanding Morning Program) and The Talk (Outstanding Directing and Achievement in Make-Up).
